Training Your Dog to Use Pee Pads | Newclears

Here's how to train your dog to use pee pads:

1. Choose a Pet Pad

Before training your dog to use pee pads, make sure the pee pad you choose is comfortable and can effectively hold excrement. In short, I need a pee pad that is easy to clean, highly absorbent, and large enough to hold excess urine.

Note: Be sure to familiarize your puppy with the pee pad to avoid fear when potty training.

2. Understand Their Potty Training Schedule

Potty training puppies requires establishing a regular routine and relying on their instincts for best results. In this case, you must observe your dog and anticipate their potty training times.

Tracking this behavior can help you understand the best time to place the potty training pad and begin potty training.

3. Training Your Puppy to Use the Pee Pad

Now that you understand your dog's potty training pattern, take it out of its crate, put on a leash, and guide it to the pee pad area. At this point, you should have mastered the command to tell your dog it's safe to relieve itself.

Note: Reward your puppy with a treat after it uses the pee pad.

4. Ensure Consistency

Once you've successfully trained your puppy to relieve itself on an absorbent pad, be sure to provide the pad every time to maintain the habit. This helps with future potty training, as the puppy has associated urination and defecation with the pad.

5. Be Patient

Remember that puppies don't understand human emotions or follow commands like adult dogs, so pad training can be frustrating. However, patience is the best, and only, option.

Conclusion: Pee pads are an effective method for potty training your dog, especially suitable for puppies too young to go outside. During training, please be patient, gentle, and understanding with your little one. They crave your love and care; punishment often does more harm than good.
